Green Beer

A classic stable of the Irish drinking culture is beer! Whether it’s Guinness or another beer, this is a drink you’ll find in any Irish pub. To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day why not have a green beer? All you’ll need is:

1 light beer
Green food coloring

To make a green beer, simply pour a light beer of your choice into a glass and add as much food coloring as you desire for color. Cheers!

Whether you want to make a cute shot for adults or swap out the alcohol for water to make it kid friendly. To make this drink you’ll need:

1 (3.4-oz) package lemon or pineapple Jell-O
1/2 c. cold whiskey
1 c. Cool Whip
Gold sprinkles
6 rainbow candy belts, cut into 2-inch pieces

Start by bringing 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Next, add in Jell-O mix and stir until it dissolves. Turn off the heat and stir in one more cup of water and the whiskey. If you’re making it without alcohol, substitute whiskey for 1/2 cup of cold water.

Next, place 16 plastic shot glasses on a baking sheet and pour in the mixture until each is two-thirds of the way full. Place the sheet in the refrigerator until they set (approximately 2 hours).

Finally, top with a dollop of Cool Whip and gold sprinkles. Place a rainbow candy belt on top, forming it into a semicircle like a rainbow, before serving.

FOOD

These are the perfect appetizer for any St. Patrick’s day celebration! Combining both the traditional foods of Ireland and a mouthwatering bite, this simple recipe is sure to please your whole crowd! What you’ll need is:

6 cabbage leaves
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1/4 cup chopped parley
1/4 cup dill
2 slices of rye bread
1/2 pound of corned beef
1 tablespoon of whole-grain mustard

This recipe is super easy to make. Start by boiling 6 cabbage leaves for 2 minutes. Rinse under cold water and pat dry and slice each piece in half.

Next, mix the mayonnaise, chopped parsley, and dill into a small bowl and spread onto each cabbage leaf.

Take your two slices of bread and cut them into strips. Then, slice the corn beef into strips as well. Toss the bread and corned beef with a spoonful of whole-grain mustard.

Finally, top the cabbage leaves with a few strips of both the bread and corned beef. Roll up the cabbage and slice in half.

For a hardier meal, take some of the same ingredients and make a Reuben! This delicious sandwich is perfect for lunch or dinner. Here’s what you’ll need to make this savory sandwich:

Sandwiches:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons ketchup
2 teaspoons drained sweet pickle relish
1/4 teaspoon paprika
8 slices rye or marbled rye sandwich bread
8 thick slices Swiss cheese
1 pound leftover corned beef, coarsely chopped
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature

Slaw:
1 cup very thinly sliced savoy cabbage (you can substitute green cabbage)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or white wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon celery seeds
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the slaw: Put the cabbage in a bowl, sprinkle the vinegar, sugar, celery seeds and salt and pepper to taste over the top and toss well. Let stand, tossing frequently, until the cabbage wilts, after about 20 minutes.

For the sandwiches: In a small bowl, stir together the mayo, ketchup, relish and paprika. Spread the dressing on one side of each slice of bread. Put a slice of cheese on each piece of bread. Next, divide the meat among 4 of the slices. Top each sandwich with some slaw and invert the remaining cheese-covered bread slices onto each sandwich. Spread 1/2 tablespoon of the butter on the top of each sandwich.

To finish off the sandwich, melt the remaining butter in a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Arrange the sandwiches buttered-side up in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden, about 4 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook until the undersides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, about another 4 minutes. Slice the sandwiches diagonally and they’re ready to serve!

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy Lucky Charms! Make the best St. Patrick’s day dessert with this Lucky Charms cookie recipe! All you’ll need are a few ingredients:

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 stick butter
1 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 c. Lucky Charms marshmallow bits
1/2 c. white chocolate chips

Star by lining a large jelly-roll pan with parchment paper and set aside. Next, in a food processor, pulse Lucky Charms for 1 minute or until finely ground. Take the cereal and put it until a large bowl. Add flour, baking soda, and salt and whisk until combined.

In another large bowl, with a mixer on medium speed, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for 4 minutes, or until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until mixed in. Then, reduce the mixer speed to medium-low. Add the flour mixture into the bowl, all at once, and beat until it is combined.

Next, fold in the marshmallow bits and chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon. Cover and refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.

While the dough is in the refrigerator, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Once the dough is ready, scoop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared cookie sheet. Place the dough about 2 inches apart from each other. Place the sheet in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until it is a pale golden color. Once baked, them out and let them cool for five minutes. Then they’re ready to eat!
